Biography

Childhood

Tolo's life, prior to becoming a soldier, was remarkably uninteresting. Living in a nuclear family unit of two average parents and two average children, of which he was the older sibling, he spent his days mostly holed up in his room. A combination of anxiety, dysphoria, and general interpersonal stress wreaked havoc on his psyche– even among the other kids his age in the settlement, he was unpopular, and had a tendency to be picked on.

Although he loved his younger sister dearly, they rarely seemed to get along, and while his parents were caring, Tolo struggled to communicate openly with them. It was no wonder, then, that Tolo volunteered for the military as soon as he turned 14.

He barely scraped by the physical exams, and from that point onward he dropped contact with his family, using his 'new life' as a chance to live his life authentically, as the boy he was well aware he was. The painstaking efforts taken to conceal himself meant he was socially outcast from the rest of the recruits he trained with, and for that time he was just as unpopular and bulliable as he had been before his recruitment.

This changed, however, shortly after completing his initial training. Upon being welcomed into the military proper, he met General Chrome for the first time. This meeting would quickly evolve into being handpicked by Chrome himself, and Tolo became his field assistant shortly before his 16th birthday, for reasons he would not be privy to until years later.

"The End of the World"

Tolo spent the next few years of his life being a nuisance to everyone in his general vicinity, with the exception of his superiors.

In His wake

After the passing of General Chrome, Tolo seemingly began to grow into himself, thrust into a position of leadership by the remnants of what was once the general's mutinous army. With very little actual leadership experience, and almost as little confidence, Tolo joined up with the Neo Contra, where the handfuls of soldiers that remained could be put to better use. While most would eventually branch out from under Tolo's inexperienced wing, a handful stayed behind, becoming his most trusted friends and partners.

In time, he and his partners– collectively known as "the boys"– moved into an unused Concern van, turning it into a camper of sorts. Serving the Neo Contra as a scrapper, they began traversing the continent, taking apart defunct military robots and scavenging for other useful parts— a job he finds both entertaining and fulfilling.

Inbetween trips, he and the boys spend their time hanging around the City One East Community Center, where they're generally regarded by its current locals as a beloved group of rapscallions.

Personality

Tolo's current hobbies include: scavenging for 'vintage' entertainment (especially books and music), talking at length about his esoteric political and spiritual beliefs, and playing tabletop games.

Relationships

Tolo is polyamorous, and currently involved with a total of five people: "The boys" (or "the guys"), made up of four ex-soldiers he once trained with, and Royal. While Tolo treats his relationship with "the boys" as a serious life partnership, he and Royal are far more casual, and it seems to be working well for the two of them.

It's best not to even start with whatever Tolo and Robin have going on.
